Surprises were aplenty at the recently concluded Oscars this year. And one among them (and perhaps the most discussed of the lot) was a surprise iPad advertisement aired by Apple during the presentation of the 82^nd Academy Awards on Sunday evening.

The 30-second teaser advert blitzkriegs through the iPad features, with the catchy tune of “There Goes My Love” by The Blue Van playing in the background.

The apps showcased in the ad include the iPad’s touch functionality in viewing photo albums, downloading e-books from iBook Store and Apple Maps. The features of iTunes media playback is highlighted as the device plays the movie ‘Star Trek’, along with a detailed eye on iWork Pages app.

The ad then neatly closes with its April 3 launch date being highlighted on-screen. It is being broadcast on the official Apple site as well, but is yet to be added to the firm’s YouTube channel.
