Facebook has replaced its Facebook Connect platform with a new set of social plug-ins which will dramatically expand its presence across the web.
Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, launched the new tools, which are part of the company’s Open Graph strategy at the annual F8 developer conference in San Francisco. The set of plug-ins is an attempt to extend Facebook’s web presence, allowing its service to be extensively embedded into third party websites. Zuckerberg said the changes were intended to put the users of Facebook and their friends at the “centre of the web”.
