Library of Congress To Get Twitter’s Complete Archive
The U.S Library of Congress has announced through its official Twitter account that it will obtain the entire archives of Twitter messages, right from 2006, when Twitter first started. The U.S Library of Congress is the world’s biggest library.
The inclusion of Twitter’s messages would help advance academic research as the library extensively works with data format standards and other platforms for outside analysis. Large data sets from these social networking sites are one of the sources of information generated from the Internet. However, no information has been given about whether the archive would include data from friend/follower connection, or if the information can be used for commercial purposes.
