According to a study by comScore, social media is dominated by Facebook. In the comparative study of social media traffic in March 2009 and March 2010, there have been several changes.
In March 2010, Facebook accounts for 41% of social media traffic, with MySpace coming in next with 24%. Google’s Gmail captured 15% and Twitter has 8%. In 2009 however, MySpace lead the race with 38% with Facebook at 33%. The study showed that Facebook, Gmail, Twitter and LinkedIn continue to grow while MySpace was stagnant with its traffic. The data was analyzed on the basis of site analytics along with audience measurement in the U.S amongst users at work, school and at home.
