Twitter produces almost 19 billion search queries every month, according to its co-founder Evan Williams. At the Chirp conference, Williams mentioned that Twitter handles roughly 600 million queries in a day.
These figures put Twitter ahead of Yahoo and Bing searches, which produce on a monthly basis, 9.4 billion and 4.1 billion searches respectively. However, Google is still at the top, with 88 billion per month, putting Twitter at the second spot. Twitter’s numbers could be less because most of Twitter searches occur through third-party API requests, like TweetDeck and Seesmic.
